Inspired by the
Love Food Hate Waste campaign, Kate from
Turquoise Lemons came up with the
No Waste Food Challenge, a place to share recipes for leftover food or food that would otherwise end up in the bin. This month I am hosting this challenge and I am setting the challenge ingredient as leftover mashed potatoes. How do you use up those cold, leftover mashed potatoes which have been sitting in your fridge for a day or two because you couldn't bear to throw them out?
Challenge Conditions:
1.
Please link up your challenge entry by the end of the month, using the linky below. Or not! Apparently the Linky Tool is a paid-for service, somehow I managed to sign up and use it for a month without noticing this and they've cancelled my subscription! Plan B: email me your link at tangolikeraindrop at hotmail dot co dot uk by the end of the month
2. If the recipe is not your own make sure you credit the author.
3. Feel free to republish old posts, just make sure you add a link to the challenge and add the challenge badge.
4. Make sure you link up before the end of the month.
5. Please also include a link back to
this blog and
Turquoise Lemons and use the No Waste Food Challenge Badge --->
If you are on Twitter feel free to use the hashtag #nowastefoodchallenge and mention me @TangoRaindrop and I will retweet all that I see.
Happy cooking! I look forward to seeing your recipes. To give you a little inspiration here are a few of my own favourite leftover mashed potato dishes.
I have no idea how to do most of the requirements above but just wanted to say what a great idea for a no food waste thing - mash is the best!

Now if I can find the time, this is my perfect opportunity to try making chocolate potato cake. Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWell, you must have been looking in my fridge! I have huge mound of leftover mash after our NY lunch today, so will see what I can come up with tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBubble and squeak is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteStovies, Fishcakes and Corned Beef Hash are the obvious choices in this house. Will see if I an come up with anything worth blogging about.
ReplyDeleteIs it cheating if I write up a post I have from Christmas leftovers that I haven't managed to blog yet?
ReplyDeleteIt's not cheating at all - it'd be lovely to see what you've come up with. :)
DeleteCOUNT me in Elizabeth! Karen
ReplyDeleteExcellent - I look forward to seeing what delights you create!
DeleteI have added my potato scones to the linky. Love to use up mashed potato in this way.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do so love tattie scones, especially with a fry up. Delicious!
DeleteThe linky says it's expired, so I can't add my post, even though it's not the end of the month yet
ReplyDeleteOh bother! I didn't read the small print, apparently - it needs to be paid for. I didn't see that when I signed up for it and since I don't make any money on my blog I'm not paying for it! Will sort something out after dinner.
